Some of you may not realise that Elizabeth is based on a real woman. Her name was Elizabeth Bathory and she was a noblewoman in 17th Century Hungary. Nicknamed throughout history as Countess Dracula because of allegedly murdering of over 600 young women and for her fascination for blood. I say 'allegedly' because some of her family members and friends believe she was framed after her husband died so that relatives could get their hands on her vast estates.
This documentary tells one side of the story, the side I chose as the origin of my characters.
