Justice After Nearly 37years....?

Well, my trip to NZ for the trial didn't happen in the end - he plead guilty to the majority of the charges. It is almost over after all these years, just have the sentencing to get through and the hope that he will actually be sentenced according the crimes he committed.

It has been a long hard road, with a lot of knockbacks along the way. Being told umpteen times that there was no way I could get a conviction - it was double jeopardy or happened so long ago that I should try and just get over it and move on with my life. Anyone that knows me, knows that I am not one that gives up that easily. Told 'No' time and time again by each different detective I approached, until finally in 2009, one said 'Yes' Then it was another almost 18months before he was actually arrested and trial dates set and postponed twice..... until finally we got to where we are now. Just a few more months to go....

For those of you that have commented that the abuse scenes in my books are too realistic - that is because they are based on actual events. Some of them anyway. Writing these books has been a type of therapy for me and will continue to be, I hope, for many years to come. As a young girl, no one helped to protect me from this real life monster - not even my mother. So I invented my own hero - a vigilante vampire that kills rapists and child molesters.....

  1. As you know I couldn't be more pleased for you Gladys and am looking forward to Feb next year to hear his sentence and know that justice will be served.
You are an inspiration to people and I am sure that you have helped others in similar situation or given someone the strength to know that good will come of being persistant.
You are very brave and I am so proud of you <3

    1. I'm not so sure about being brave, just determined to not let him get away with it or to have free reign to hurt other children. I wanted everyone to know, to be able to keep their children safe - but without a conviction I couldn't name him anywhere. It certainly feels that the laws are there to protect the criminals and make it as hard as poss for victims to seek justice. I just hope he does some jail time....
