#amwriting A Match Made in Hell (Book 5 in The Dream Series) - the final installment I hope!
Just a tiny #snippet
“Cassandra, my beautiful, beautiful Cassandra. I have loved you for an
eternity already, since the beginning of time, even before time itself
began, it seems. I could not imagine my life without you in it. You ARE
my life, my whole existence, I am nothing without you. I cannot think of
the future without you by my side. Such a world does not exist for me.”
Ok - here is a tiny bit bigger snippet! (Contains spoilers if you have not read The Chosen One yet)
Alexi looked at the
scene before him. His son was alive. His mother was alive. No thanks to him. He
felt as if someone had punched a hole in his chest and ripped out his heart.
How could he have been so stupid? How could he have let that witch control him
like that? If it hadn’t been for Chloe….he shuddered as he thought about what
could have happened if not for his young sire.
He ran his hand through
his hair and turned away. He couldn’t bear to think of what could have
happened, had his whole universe ended this night. He’d been in some sort of
trance, had a dagger in his hand ready to plunge into his beloved son. He could
still hear Cassandra’s screams ringing in his ears, something he doubted he
would ever be able to totally shake. How did Chloe know that Nana was possessed
by Elizabeth? What the hell were Sebastian and Maria doing here – weren’t they
both dead? More importantly, was Sebastian – his nemesis – suddenly on his side
now after spending God knows how many years trying to ruin him? These were
questions he would need answers to, but not right now.
It was because of Sebastian
that Cassandra had lost her dearest friend and because of him that he almost
lost the love of his life. He felt the hatred and anger rising within him and
had this overwhelming urge to rip Sebastian’s head off his overly muscular
body. But he could not blame everything on the other vampire. A lot of the
blame fell firmly at his own two feet. It was all too overwhelming and the
emotion was suddenly impossible to contain.
He walked out into the room
where Cassie and the other women had been chanting earlier. Already the tears
were beginning to well in his eyes and he knew that the dam was about ready to burst.
The pain was unbearable and his shoulders shook with the force of his sobs. Not
that long ago he thought he had lost his beloved Cassandra and tonight he had
almost taken the life of his only child.
How could he have been such
a gullible scapegoat? Was he that easy to manipulate? He needed to get a grip
on his senses and learn to trust his wife’s instincts more. Cassandra had
warned him about her dreams and he now knew they were indeed premonitions. How
was he going to protect his son, the precious Chosen One, if he could be used
so easily as a puppet in his planned demise? He was suddenly aware of a
presence behind him and spun around, fully transformed into a menacing vampire,
teeth bared and eyes blazing.
He let out a low growl
when he saw that it was Sebastian who had followed him into the room. He eyed
the other man menacingly, ready to pounce and take his chances against the much
bigger vampire. Sebastian held up his hands and shook his head.
“Whoa tiger, I am here
to help!”
“To help who? Me or
Elizabeth and her minions – of which, I thought you were one?” Alexi snarled.
Ooooo!
