Undeserving (Novella #1 in the Someone To Love Me trilogy)

Genre: Contemporary Romance

All of her life, Bree had been treated badly by men.  According to her mother, it was just the way it was with the women in her family and there was no point in trying to fight it. There was no sense in dreaming about Prince Charming right out of the story books, he just didn't exist. She had to accept her fate and move on. It was as simple as that.

Bree craved love. She longed for a man to promise her his heart and soul and protect her from the monsters that she had grown accustomed to. She prayed that her mother was wrong and that one day he would find her.

Teaser:

“The problem is,” he said and then paused. “The problem is, I cannot just switch off my feelings.”
He raised his head to gaze into my eyes and my stomach muscles tightened. The image of him making love to me at the hospital flashed before me and as I looked into his eyes, I knew he saw it, too. His eyes were dark and brooding and filled with lust. I had to look away before I threw myself at him. My hormones were all over the place and now all I could think about was the feeling of his skin against mine….
“I still love you, Bree,” he said softly. “That isn’t going to change overnight. I think about you all the time. I remember what it felt like when we were together and it takes all of my willpower not to just grab you and have you, right here and right now.”
My heart beat very fast and a flush travelled up my neck and into my cheeks. I knew that if he decided to have his way with me, there was no way I could stop him. Not that I would even want to. My body was overtaken with desire, but I was frozen to the chair and unable to move. I was helpless and at his mercy. I broke our gaze and tried to pick up my cup to sip my tea. My hands were trembling and I knew that he noticed.
“You’re shaking,” he said and he reached across the table and ran his finger down my forearm. “Are you scared of me?”
He frowned and seemed genuinely concerned. I shook my head and smiled. I wasn’t scared of Trey; I knew he would never intentionally hurt me. I was scared about the way he made me feel, though, and I knew I was fighting a losing battle to keep my distance from him. If he were to take me in his arms and kiss me, I would be his.
